For a mild street 10.6:1 355 SBC, 232/232@050 .485/.485 108LSA, 750 Vac secondary Holley, TH350 2600 stall, 3.73's, 14x7 60 series tires.

I currently have an older Holley Contender #300-36 duel plane. (The Holley 300-36 is based off the original hi-rise LT-1 intake. It has had a couple different names but design wise has basically stayed the same. Idle to 7200 rpm).
This intake and carb setup with my air cleaner just fits under my hood without problems.

I have a line on a Edelbrock Torker #2725 thats been glass beaded and cleand up. (single plane style).
What would I benifit from most, pros and cons and where each intake really shows improvement @RPM range?

Jefferson, you own a street car with and engine that more than likely will never see past 6,500. I would recommend a dual plane manifold, like Edelbrocks Air Gap Manifold. Most single plane manifolds are designed to operate in the upper RPM band, and street driven cars mostly see the lower RPM band spectrum. This is where a dual plane is benifical. There is probably no manifold that can out perform the Air Gap manifold from 1,500 - 6,500 rpms, bar none.

Jefferson, if you have not seen this test of several intake manifolds, check it out. Very informative...Jack

Now the question is, would I benifit from milling my divider in the 300-36?
If I were you, I would try the spacer first. Try flipping your air cleaner lid up-side-down to grab an extra inch of space unless it is a flat lid rather than a peaked one. Old trick I learned from a dyno-tune guy. If the spacer makes a noticeable difference and you can afford to possibly ruin a great 300-36, give it a try. Otherwise I would leave that good manifold just the way it came from the factory. Jack

Do not waste any more time thinking about this. The 300-36 is an excellent intake and is every bit as good as the Performer RPM or any other dual plane, besides, you already have it. Bolt it on just the way it is and have fun. Any gains to be had by trick modifications and spacers will not even be noticable in a street application.
